About frameless shower enclosures

A frameless shower makes a bathroom look larger and more refined. Heavy tempered glass, minimal hinges and clean silicone lines let your tile and fixtures take center stage.

Every enclosure is measured on site and made to size, with a protective coating that keeps the glass easier to clean, and hardware matched to your faucets.

Codes, testing & approvals

Performance standards

Architectural glass is chosen by safety, strength and clarity. These are the standards and glass types behind our doors, walls, showers and mirrors.

CPSC 16 CFR 1201 / ANSI Z97.1

Safety glazing standards for glass in doors, showers, sidelights and other hazardous locations.

ASTM C1048 · Heat-treated glass

Fully tempered glass is about four times stronger than annealed glass and breaks into small, blunt pieces.

ASTM C1172 · Laminated glass

Two or more plies bonded by an interlayer that holds the glass in place if it breaks; used where retention matters.

ASTM C1503 · Mirrors

Quality standard for silvered mirror glass, with edge sealing and compatible adhesives for long life.

ANSI/BHMA A156.10 / A156.19

Standards for power-operated sliding doors and low-energy automatic swing doors.

Accessibility (ADA / FBC)

Clear opening width, low thresholds and limited opening force on accessible doors.

Code references are summarized for orientation. Final requirements are confirmed by the engineer of record and the building department for each project.

For architects & designers

Design considerations

What our engineering team reviews with the design team before the drawings are final.

  1. Measure after tileGlass is measured after tile and stone are finished, since it cannot be adjusted on site.
  2. Door size and weightWide, heavy doors need hinge and wall reinforcement; we check before production.
  3. Water managementSlopes, curbs and door swing direction are reviewed to keep water inside.
  4. Steam showersSteam showers need full-height glass, a transom and tight seals.

Questions

Frameless Shower Enclosures: FAQ

When should the shower glass be measured?

After the tile and stone are finished, so the glass fits the final surfaces exactly.

What is low-iron glass?

Glass with less iron, so it has no green tint at the edges. It looks clearer and shows your tile's true color.

3/8 in. or 1/2 in. glass?

Both are standard. 1/2 in. feels more solid and is used on larger doors; 3/8 in. is lighter and very common.

How do I keep shower glass clean?

A protective coating and a quick squeegee after use keep the glass clear for years.
